United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) has achieved the ISO 27001:2013 certification for information security management systems.

The certification was awarded by BSI Middle East and Africa, after external assessment of the container shipping company's processes to secure and protect all financial, legal, personal and employee data as well as all data entrusted by third parties.

UASC said that the nature and complexity of the shipping industry requires a world class information security system and a commitment from management and staff to not only maintain, but continuously improve security management.

Waleed Al Dawood, chief operating officer UASC said: "UASC has always considered information security as a key priority. Protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of critical information in line with international  best practices reiterates that data security remains central to our operations."
