Samsung Electronics this weekend announced it has launched its Galaxy Tab A tablet in the UAE.

The Android 5.0 (Lollipop)-powered device is available in 8-inch and 9.7-inch variants and supports an optional "enhanced" S-Pen.

According to Samsung, the tablet's processor is 21% faster than that of the Galaxy Tab 4, its body is thinner, at 7.5 mm and it is 6g lighter. It includes a 5MP autofocus rear camera and a 2MP forward-facing camera.

Samsung said the optional S-Pen delivers "mouse-like accuracy and selection" and has been designed to support business solutions such as Microsoft Office for Android.

"With a range of free content for leisure and productivity this powerful Samsung tablet offers a high level of personalisation and a better viewing experience at an affordable price. The Galaxy Tab A is beautifully packaged in an extremely portable form and will be a perfect companion for the home, the office, and everything in between.
