UAE grey market sells Apple Watch cheaper than UK Apple Store
JadoPado’s third-party merchants rein in mammoth mark-ups on Cupertino’s wrist-wear
UAE grey-market prices for the Apple Watch have taken a nose dive with mark-ups around a tenth of what they were just two months ago and some models cheaper than corresponding devices on international Apple Store websites, according to pricing analysis on six models conducted by ITP.net.
At the end of April, this website reported that third-party merchants affiliated with JadoPado Direct were pricing the Apple Watch with mark-ups as high as 258%, but current premiums average 29%. ITP.net compared the prices of six Apple Watch models available on JadoPado with the same models on the UK and US Apple Store websites.
We found JadoPado’s merchants were selling the Cupertino wearable at an average of 48% more than the US and 10% more than the UK. When considering Apple Watch Sport devices only, those average premiums were reduced to 43% for the US and 6% for the UK.
On April 28, a JadoPado Direct seller was asking AED4,599.00 ($1,250) for an Apple Watch Sport 38mm Silver Aluminium Case with Blue Sport Band. This model is at the bottom end of Apple's price scale and costs $349 to buy from the US online store.
