Getting the most from IT Summits
Technology symposiums and events can be great opportunities to network, learn and hone your skills and own brand, but only if you approach each and every event with purpose.
With IT summits and events in full-swing in the region, it can be hard for resellers to focus on getting the most out of each event. However, these events are the perfect opportunity to practice your business brand, network to find new partners, learn fresh ideas and give a boost to your enthusiasm for your business and target markets.
Two of the biggest events for the first half of the year for the magazine are right around corner: ‘Channel Middle East Awards 2015’ and Partner Conference 2.0.
While the awards event focuses on paying tribute to outstanding vendors, distributors, resellers, retailers, individuals and partner programmes, the conference agenda brings together solution providers, vendors, thought leaders and industry experts to help you grow your business faster and more profitably. Both events are a great opportunity to learn what’s on the horizon and what you, as a solution provider, need to be thinking about or doing to develop differentiated offerings.
However, the opportunity fizzles if you don’t have a plan for your conference time.
I want to briefly share some guidelines to help you make the most of your conference.
For starters, read through the agenda in advance and with today’s increasing use of mobile event apps, you can load your preferred schedule into your mobile device.
An industry conference is your opportunity to question vendors about their products and services face to face. Another aspect is to ask questions in the sessions you attend and take advantage of this chance to pick the brains of your successful peers, thought leaders, business gurus and more.
Lastly, bring lots of business cards and I cannot over emphasise the importance of this.
The bottom line is that events are about networking so don’t waste the chance to meet with hundreds of industry colleagues, vendors, distributors, consultants and thought leaders face to face next time you are at a conference.
