Swedish telecoms vendor Ericsson will demonstrate smart grid communications and metering solutions at this year's Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), which runs from 21 to 23 April at the Dubai International Convention Centre.

Ericsson will be participating as a Platinum sponsor at WETEX 2015, which is run annually by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The event centres on progress within the utilities sector and is expected to showcase a number of ongoing smart government initiatives

Ericsson will conduct a series of demonstrations at its stand including smart energy networks. This will be the company's first participation of the event which marks its 17th edition in 2015.

"We are anticipating billions of devices to be connected to the energy smart grid by the year 2020, which is why we are taking action at arming the utilities sector with smart energy networks that are enabled to manage large amounts of data now," said Rutger Reman, head, Industry & Society, Ericsson, Region Middle East. "This will make opportunities for efficient grid and energy consumption more accessible when it is needed most. We look forward to sharing our pioneering solutions at our very first WETEX participation."
