MWC 2015: Citrix announces XenMobile support for Android for Work
EMM solution to integrate with Google’s workplace data-segregation solution
Citrix has announced XenMobile support for Android for Work, in a follow-up to its collaboration with Google on virtual app and desktop delivery for Chrome devices and enterprise mobility management (EMM) support for Android smartphones and tablets.
"Together, Citrix and Google empower both businesses and government institutions with a secure, scalable, app-centric, mobility solution that delivers exceptional user experience, providing people with new ways to work better," the Citrix said in a statement released ahead of the company's attendance at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Citrix' latest offering is aimed at the bring-your-own-device culture, in which sys admins struggle to secure networks against notebooks, tablets and smartphones that cross the divide between the private corporate network and the public Internet.
XenMobile is an EMM solution for Android-based tablets, smartphones and desktops. Android for Work was developed by Google to allow users to maintain a dedicated work profile with sharing restrictions, to keep business and personal data separate.
Citrix also said it was continuing to expand support for Samsung KNOX, many features of which can be used in conjunction with Android for Work, to enable enhanced management and control on Samsung Galaxy devices. Citrix claims XenMobile is "unique in its ability to offer consistent security and policies across all mobile device platforms, including its support for FIPS 140-2 encryption and compliance standards".
"With complementary visions and strategies, Citrix and Google are collaborating on a number of initiatives in mobility, app virtualisation and cloud to deliver a comprehensive best-in-class secure mobile workspace solution that offers customers the most seamless, business-ready experience on Android and Chrome devices over any network," said Brian Dye, group vice president and general manager, Mobile Platforms, Citrix.
