What is your current role in the ICT industry in the Middle East and what are your responsibilities?

I am the regional sales director for the Middle East at A10 Networks. I look after the Middle East sales and pre-sales team for A10. The role involves direct touch and channel execution within the territory, increasing awareness of the A10 brand and ensuring A10 customers receive the highest level of products and services possible.

What is the best thing about your job?

Meeting a happy customer after a successful deployment of our solutions. It’s always satisfying to see something you’ve worked on translate into a real-world benefit.

How innovative do you think the network industry in the Middle East is and how can it improve?

Incredibly so — our region is typically the first to deploy new technology at scale and therefore is compelled to seek out new, innovative vendors to partner with. This is compounded by the huge amount of foreign investment and foreign workers in Middle East, all of whom have different ideas of what the networking industry should deliver.

There are always improvements to be made and my personal feeling is that companies that either deliver a network or a service over that network need to move away from the older technologies and seek out newer vendors in our space who share the Middle East’s passion for innovative solutions.

What are the upcoming trends or products in your sector?

Cloud has been trending for a while now and we’re starting to see many more cloud services being deployed in our region. Cloud has also been driving our understanding of data usage, with the latest statistics showing business is nearly doubling its use year on year. Therefore, big data is fast becoming a priority in the large enterprise, government and health verticals. Finally, IPv6 migration is something that simply cannot be ignored any longer.

Are you a BYOD user and what devices do you use?

I am a BYOD user — I use an iPad Air, MacBook Pro, and iPhone 6 Plus.

What are your out-of-office hobbies?

Scuba diving and desert driving in my Ford F150 Raptor.
