Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) and Zain Jordan are set to collaborate on developing entrepreneurial ecosystems in Dubai and Jordan.

The two organisations have signed an MoU, which will focus on co-operation between DSOA's Dubai Technology Entrepreneurship Centre (DTEC) and Zain's Innovation Campus.

The agreement will encourage the integration of young Emirati talent into the telecom sector and facilitate the professional growth of employees through hosting periodic training courses, workshops, seminars and conferences. The MoU additionally mandates both parties to provide entrepreneurs and campus members with access to their respective technology, equipment and network.

Zain Jordan established the Zain Innovation Campus (ZINC) in November 2014, to support Jordanian entrepreneurs and startups to transform their ideas into productive sustainable projects, to be marketed locally, regionally and internationally. ZINC provides equipped environment with state-of-the-art technological services, in addition to mentorship and an access to network with 50 strategic partners that represent the global technology corporates, startups incubators and business accelerators.

Silicon Oasis' DTEC is due to launch in Q1 of this year, and will provide a work environment for existing and emerging high-tech entrepreneurs and startups to support entrepreneurial activities.

Shahla Ahmed Abdul Razak, deputy CEO of DSOA, said: "Dubai Silicon Oasis has launched several initiatives to support the growing community of entrepreneurs in the technology sector. The agreement further strengthens the symbiotic relationship shared by the two organisations. As an integrated hi-tech park, we are committed to offering comprehensive services, amenities and activities to investors and stakeholders. We are keen to strengthen cooperation and collaboration with various private institutions across the region as part of our continued commitment to articulate the national priority to support entrepreneurship."

Zain Jordan chief executive officer, Ahmad Hanandeh commented: "We are glad that Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority joins Zain Jordan as one of its strategic partners, where this partnership will contribute in shedding the light on Jordan that has become a regional center for capabilities and innovative ideas, and a hub for evolving entrepreneurship and startups.

"This partnership will provide Jordanian entrepreneurs the opportunity to access the expertise of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority in the realm of entrepreneurship, noting that UAE has several unique achievements in the entrepreneurship domain that consequently led to maintaining a leading position around the globe," he added.
