Acer today unveiled the 5-inch Liquid Jade S, the latest addition to the company's Liquid Jade smartphone series.

The S version features 4G LTE connectivity, a Mediatek 64-bit octa-core processor and a voice-controlled camera.

The Liquid Jade S also comes with a Mali T760 graphics chip and runs Android 4.4 Jelly Bean, but Acer said the handset is Lollipop-ready. The body is 7.78mm thick and weighs 116g, which makes it slightly heavier than Apple's iPhone 5S, but considerably lighter than the iPhone 6, and Samsung's Galaxy S4 and S5 devices.

The 13MP rear camera with F1.8 aperture, is designed for "flawless pictures in any environment, even when the light is scarce". A front camera of 5MP is also included. The Liquid Jade S' cameras are voice-activated, through commands such as "cheese" or "selfie". Supporting apps include automatic settings, filters and exposure adjustment.

The Liquid Jade S also comes with AcerEXTEND, which allows users to take full control of their smartphones via cable or wirelessly using their Windows-based PC.
