FortiGate-VM available on AWS through pay-as-you-go scheme
Vendor accepts hourly or annual billing for its virtual data centre firewall
Fortinet has expanded its suite of offerings for Amazon Web Services (AWS) with the addition of a pay-as-you-go licensing scheme for its virtualised data centre firewall, FortiGate-VM.
FortiGate-VM for AWS will now be available on an hourly or annual subscription basis from the AWS Marketplace, and will complement Fortinet's existing bring-your-own-licence (BYOL) options. Fortinet said that the move would provide an easier and more flexible way in which to consume the virtual appliance.
"We are excited to have FortiGate-VM for AWS available via annual and hourly subscription on AWS Marketplace," said Terry Hanold, vice president of cloud commerce, Amazon Web Services.
"Customers can easily and quickly purchase FortiGate-VM on AWS Marketplace to help provide additional layers of protection for their workloads running on AWS."
Fortinet said that a benefit of the new on-demand, pay-as-you-go option is the ability to deploy and scale the solution to meet immediate and growing security demands, while also maintaining predictable cost models. The vendor claimed that new AWS Marketplace annual subscription options allow potential CAPEX savings of up to 40% when compared to hourly pricing over the same 12-month period.
No stranger to making its appliances available as virtual offerings on AWS, Fortinet now has a number of solutions available through this cloud, including the FortiWeb web application firewalls, and FortiManager-VM and FortiAnalyzer-VM virtualised management and analysis systems.
FortiWeb-VM is also available on the AWS Marketplace on-demand with hourly or annual subscriptions.
