50 Channel Champions
Channel Middle East reveals the 2014 movers and shakers of the regional channel.
The Middle East channel has continued to grow in recent years and it still retains the appeal rarely seen in other markets around the globe. In a competitive landscape such as the Middle East, channel companies are always looking to partner with the best IT vendors. And because the channel business involves alliances between vendors, distributors and resellers, in many ways, the old adage, ‘it’s not what you know, but who you know’ could have been constructed for the Middle East channel, as executive movements between IT multinationals and channel organisations happen too often.
In picking the Top 50 Channel Champions this year, we have attempted to highlight executives that are playing a crucial role in the advancement of the regional IT market and whose actions have direct influence over the success of the whole channel ecosystem in the Middle East and Africa market.
So, how did we go about selecting these top 50 channel executives? Well, we set ourselves a few rules for a start. First of all, all the executives featured in this year’s list are employed by vendors or distributors, the main companies that resellers, systems integrators and retailers depend on for the success of their own businesses in the market. We have also tried to bring in new faces as we believe most vendors and distributors have channel teams within their organisations not just one executive.
While the aim of this exercise is to get as many executives as we possibly can from around the Middle East, majority of those featured are based out of the UAE, although all of them have roles covering the broader MEA geography and beyond.
Like last year, the 2014 list includes the 50 most influential executives taking technology to new heights and dwells deeper into understanding these executives in their quest to promote innovation in the regional channel and thereby making game-changing contributions. We have kept the policy of selecting one executive per company, even though the scale of presence by some companies could probably have justified more than one entry for some organisations.
With that in mind, this year’s list aims to shine the spotlight on not only the most influential executives in the MENA channel today, but on the channel pioneers, sales and services leaders, the channel strategists, as well as the innovators, mavericks, next-generation channel leaders and up-and-comers.
While we have only managed to publish 50 executives from the regional channel, we are also aware of the fact that there are more ‘channel champions’ beyond this list.
Nevertheless, the compilation offers a solid guide to the movers and shakers shaping the regional IT channel.
