HID unveils Mobile Access solution

HID Global used GITEX Technology Week as the regional launchpad for its newly announced Mobile Access solution, which allows enterprises to enable employees’ Bluetooth Smart and NFC-ready smartphones as an alternative to keys and access cards.

The solution delivers a secure and easy way to open doors and gates, as well as providing a simple secure identity management process, HID said.

According to Harm Radstaak, EMEA managing director for Identity and Access Management, HID Global, the solution will bring convenience to both security managers and end users.

“That is a very neat application, which brings convenience, which brings ID security, as well as management on a different level,” he said. “HID offers a full solution including a cloud application for issuing credentials over the air to your device wherever you are in the world.”

The solution is used with HID’s mobile-enabled iClass SE and multiClass SE readers, and includes Mobile IDs, HID Mobile Access Apps and access to the HID Secure Identity Services portal for managing users and issuing or revoking mobile IDs. The readers are also interoperable with 125 kHz HID Prox and high-frequency technologies.

The security identity solutions provider is also touting a number of other products at GITEX 2014. According to Radstaak, the company was able to showcase a range of solutions that it offers, as HID is heavily associated with identity cards and access control. He hopes that the demonstrations on the HID stand will get the message out that HID also offers products in a number of other areas.
