GITEX 2014 Review
Global and regional IT stakeholders from the vendor, distributor, systems integration, solution provider, reseller, service provider and telecoms community turned up for the Middle East’s largest ICT event GITEX Technology Week 2014.

Vision Solutions talks migration
Vision Solutions used GITEX Technology Week to focus on its upcoming cloud offerings as well as its tools and solutions that can help companies migrate their infrastructures.
According to Ahmad Khattab, vice president, Sales for Growth Markets at Vision Solutions, GITEX is vital to raise brand awareness about the company, particularly in a time of rapid cloud uptake and widespread adoption of virtualisation technologies. He said that his conversations with customers at GITEX revolved around how best to migrate to virtual and cloud infrastructures.
“It’s critical for us to position cloud right now. It’s not actually a concept anymore, or a buzzword. It used to be a buzzword, everybody was talking about it, but now it’s actually happening here,” he said.
“We know the need is there, and we want to help our customers achieve their objectives to get to that level of technology.”
Khattab said that Vision Solutions also used GITEX to lead discussions with customers over how to best manage downtime. Indeed, these issues often come up when new implementations are on the cards, and Vision Solutions is hoping to advise CIOs and CTOs on how they can keep up their SLAs, he added.
“If they want to go from physical to virtual, or from virtual to cloud, or from physical to cloud - whatever that might be - that migration is becoming critical. It will require downtime and testing and all that other stuff, so we help them with this with our migration tools,” he stated.
