Fortinet’s global launch

Fortinet attended this year’s GITEX Technology Week, where it was able to launch new product globally.

According to Alain Penel, the company’s regional vice president, Middle East, Fortinet unveiled its FortiGate-3810D, a data centre firewall appliance with 100GbE interfaces and 300+Gbps throughput at GITEX.

The product is designed to meet stringent performance and connectivity demands of next generation high-speed data centres, according to the firm. It uses FortiASIC Network Processor 6 technology, a solution that can now be implemented in an appliance form factor. The FortiGate-3810D’s 3U appliance form factor is built to save space and power and includes features such as Virtual Domain and transparent mode, allowing networks to be segmented, without the need for major modifications to the network.

Penel said that, although the investment to be at the show was significant, it was worth it to showcase the new appliance. “There are many aspects of GITEX that were attractive for Fortinet. Firstly, branding because people see Fortinet, our partners, the whole market can see Fortinet. It is a big investment, but there was no discussion; it is key for us to participate,” said Penel.

“Secondly we were able to show the market our new products and solutions. Also during GITEX we met existing and potential customers and explained to them what we’re doing and showing them some solutions.”

Away from the show, Fortinet has been growing rapidly, according to Penel. The firm is also planning to open a tech resource centre in Dubai. “As a company we are growing in a big way, we are investing in resources,” he said.
