Asus has announced the launch of its Zenbook UX303, an Ultrabook with new design features and improved internals on previous Zenbook models.

Asus made great fanfare over the Zenbook's design credentials, which feature a signature spun-metal concentric circle finish on the lid. The laptop measures 3mm thin at the front edge, and 9mm at the rear.

Under the hood, the device features fourth-generation Intel Core processors, available up to i7 level, teamed with the Nvidia GeForce GT840M graphics card. The laptop also features a 13.3-inch 1,920 x 1,080 full-HD display, and what Asus calls SonicMaster audio - a combination of ICEpower and Bang & Olufsen audio technology.

Asus claims a contrast ratio of 770:1 on the touch-enabled display. For audio, the device features 1.5W speakers with oval voice coils and over-size magnets.

Users can opt for either the Intel Core i5 version, which clocks in 1.6GHz, or else the Core i7 one, which provides speeds of 1.8GHz. Main memory on board is 4GB, and there's also a 4GB DIMM slot for power-hungry users. Storage comes courtesy of a 508GB hybrid HDD - you get 500GB of HDD storage plus 8GB of SSD.

There's a front-facing 720p CMOS webcam above the screen. For connectivity, you get one mini DisplayPort, three USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI 1.4 port, one audio jack combo and one SD card reader.

The Ultrabook is available at all major retailers starting at AED 3,499 for the i5 version. The i7 version will retail for AED 3,999, Asus said.
