LG drops plasma TV models
South Korean firm to discontinue production by end of November
South Korean electronics major LG today announced it would halt production of plasma TVs from the end of November, Reuters reported.
Instead the company said it would concentrate on its lines of liquid crystal display (LCD) and organic light-emitting diode (OLED).
LG referred to the decline in global demand for plasma models as LCD continues to dominate mainstream demand.
Samsung SDI, an affiliate of LG's domestic rival Samsung Electronics, in July announced it too would shut down plasma production by the end of November.
