Data centre company Equinix, has announced its participation in the 7th Middle East Game Developers Summit and Games Expo 2014 which is taking place today and tomorrow at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The company aims to raise awareness on the challenges and opportunities for the regional gaming industry and Equinix executives will present a key note session titled "How players in the gaming ecosystem can deliver a more localised user experience in the MENA region"

"MENA region is the fastest emerging market for online gaming, with growing internet penetration, and 60 % of the 350 million people in the Arab world below the age of twenty five. The region presents huge potential for gaming developers, publishers, e-payment platforms and overall consumption. A gaming infrastructure built in a network dense datacenter with a low latency access to users, is the key to driving the growth and enhancing the overall user experience in the region," said Jeroen Schlosser, managing director of Equinix MENA.

Equinix will also present case studies from around the world on how to achieve optimal user experiences. The sessions will examine how an optimised gaming infrastructure could create more benefits and opportunities for all players in the region.

"Online gamers expect a console-like experience, but user growth and rich graphics can bog down performance if regional companies are not prepared. With immense opportunity in the region, there is a need for a gaming infrastructure that can scale to handle millions of new users, with world-class reliability and vendor neutrality to control costs. Platform Equinix's network density, global reach and access to an ecosystem of social network sites and platforms can accelerate games' performance, increasing end-user loyalty and improving revenue," added Schlosser.

The summit held alongside the Dubai World Game Expo, the largest event for the MENA video games and digital entertainment industry will spotlight the local and regional interactive entertainment developments and business opportunities in the Middle East.
