Google Inc yesterday launched "Inbox" an alternative email service geared towards a more user-friendly display of information.

Google has not indicated when its decade-old Gmail service might be decommissioned, only touting the huge differences between the two offerings.

"Inbox is by the same people who brought you Gmail, but it's not Gmail: it's a completely different type of inbox, designed to focus on what really matters," the company said in a blog post.

Inbox is designed to display reminders in a more accessible way and keep track of online purchases in real time. As well as running over the Web, the services will also be available as an app for both Android and iOS.
