SAS appoints GM for Gulf region Amir Sohrabi has been appointed as GM for SAS in the Gulf and Emerging Markets.

Analytics software company SAS has appointed a new general manager for the Gulf and Emerging Markets.

Amir Sohrabi will take on the role, having previously held the position of regional director of Alliances and Channels for Middle East, Africa and Turkey (MEAT) since. Sohrabi joined the company in 2009 as Middle East Alliances & Channel Manager.

In his new role, Sohrabi will be supporting the company's future business direction.

"I look forward to delivering value for our clients," said Amir Sohrabi, general manager, Gulf and Emerging Markets at SAS. "Our clients are facing an ever more complex environment in which many structured and unstructured sources of data must be analyzed in real-time in order to uncover opportunities or highlight risk. This is what SAS does better than anyone else. Our heritage is based on advanced analytics and for 37 years we have been the leader in this space."

Before joining SAS, Sohrabi held the position of managing director for Eastbanc Technologies for two years, after having previously co-founded MSPX, an IT Managed Services company based out of Arlington Virginia in 2000, which was acquired seven years later.

Sohrabi is also a firm believer in youth development and in his spare time he is an assistant coach for Emirates American Football League, Dubai Barracudas Junior Varsity team. As part of his volunteer efforts with the EAFL, he also runs the Youth Leadership Program, which focuses on teaching the youth in the community the principles of good leadership.
