Cisco demos smart city tech integration
Company showcases IoE-centric offerings
Cisco is showcasing its latest services to promote the Internet of Everything (IoE), a core topic for the company. Rabih Dabboussi, Managing Director for Cisco in the UAE, believes that the region is aware of the IoE trend and notes that countries such as the UAE and KSA have set the standard that needs to be emulated across the wider region.
Commenting on the UAE, Dabbousi says that the seven emirates are already looking into a smart city and smart country strategy. He adds that the neighbouring countries in the GCC and some south African nations are also looking at these solutions.
“On our stand you will find a cross-road in which we have separated four key areas. We are focused on smart city solutions from a technology perspective and a workflow perspective, which involves the governments too. This interconnectivity in the city helps us to extract value from these connections,” Dabbousi comments.
He recognises how GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2014 is impacting its business positively and Cisco has been announcing new partnerships during the event. “We are conducting many meetings with our customers. It is a great advantage for us because this week, most of the decision makers are here and the amount of executives and meetings and tractions that we get from GITEX probably equals two months of meetings that you will typically have during the course of the year,” he notes.
Dabbousi adds: “We are showcasing multiple new products on the Cisco stand, new capabilities on applications and services. The sponsorships that we have are JBN, Intel and we will be releasing multiple MoU and joint agreements with government entities and private enterprises around collaboration.”
