Industry innovation honoured at prestigious GITEX awards
TECHNOLOGY WEEK honours cutting-edge projects
GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK has played host to not one, but two prestigious awards ceremonies this week, with honours going to regional leaders in cloud computing and consumer gadgets.
In the GITEX Cloud Awards, part of the Cloud Confex, five leading organisations were presented with their awards for their achievements in the cloud arena. The winners of this year’s GITEX Cloud Awards were Gulf Air, for the Best Big Data Solution Project; the GCAA, for Best Cloud Security Implementation; Abu Dhabi Police, for Best Data Center Infrastructure Project, Dubai Municipality for Best Government Implementation of Cloud Solution, and ITA Oman for Best Virtualization Solution Implementation.
The second annual GITEX Edge Hot Stuff Awards saw the LG G3 phone secure Phone of the Year 2014 and Gadget of the Year 2014.
Winners in other products categories at the GITEX Hot Stuff Awards were the Bowers & Wilkins p7 for ‘Headphone of the Year’; the Sonos Play:1 for ‘Music Gadget of the Year’; the Apple iPad Air for ‘Tablet of the Year’; the Fujifilm X-T1 for ‘Camera of the Year’; the Microsoft X-Box One for ‘Tech Toy of the Year’; the Jawbone UP24 for ‘Fitness Gadget of the Year’; the LG 65UB980T for ‘TV of the Year’; the Apple MacBook Air 13inch for ‘Laptop of the Year’; the Philips Hue for ‘Smart Home Gadget of the Year’, and the Oculus Rift for ‘Innovation of the Year’.
