Regional VAD Mindware  has used its participation at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK to announce the signing of a distribution agreement with Riverbed Technology for the Middle East.

Under the deal, Mindware will distribute the entire Riverbed product portfolio and solutions in the Middle East. In addition, the distributor will also provide support to partners and help with business development initiatives.

Taj El Khayat, managing director, Middle East, Turkey, North, West and Central Africa at Riverbed Technology, said the distribution partnership with Riverbed is an important stepping stone for Riverbed's growth strategy in the region. "We strongly believe in Mindware's capabilities, coverage model and most importantly, its product portfolio, which complements our location independent computing," he said.

El Khayat said the alliance with Mindware comes at the right time as Riverbed starts combining the different components of the company's application performance platform that utilises some of the technology alliances it has with the likes of Microsoft and EMC. "The two vendors are already important partners of Mindware and for us, Microsoft and EMC play a major role in terms of how we truly take our independent location computing to the next level, whether we look at it from the application exploration mode or storage delivery perspective," he added.

Mario Gay, general manager at Mindware, said the company brings to this partnership with Riverbed a large product portfolio, partner base and technical competency. "We have already started to build the Riverbed team within Mindware and we will be enhancing it with pre-sales engineers," he said.

Gay added that Mindware will be rolling out pre-sales activities to channel partners that include, training, partner enablement, marketing and business development.

Elie Dib, head, Channels, Middle East, Turkey and North Africa said Riverbed's channel strategy centres on having a two tier model where distributors play a crucial role. "We are delighted to have signed Mindware for the Middle East and we will be working together to develop the business together," he added.

Di said Riverbed will be supporting Mindware with pre-sales component, implementation capability and channel business development as it extends the company's offerings to the regional channel. "I want to reiterate that our partnership with Mindware is not only complementary to the existing product in its stable, but opens up new opportunities for the two companies to grow together," he said.
