Lenovo yesterday announced the latest additions to its VIBE line of premium smartphones in the region, the VIBE X2, VIBE Z2 and the VIBE Z2 Pro.

The Vibe Z2 Pro will be available in the UAE the first week of October for AED2499 and the X2 and Z2 will be available at the end of November for AED1499 and AED1699.

"The latest Lenovo VIBE smartphones are designed to cater to intuitive and trendy users who want to stand out from the rest of the crowd and demand beautifully designed smartphones that offer powerful performance," said Oliver Ebel, vice president and general manager, Lenovo MEA.

Ebel added: "With the expansion of our VIBE portfolio, Lenovo continues to build on the momentum we have gathered in the PC space and translate that into growth across all of our other segments in the region. According to IDC's data for Q2 FY14, Lenovo smartphone shipments grew a whopping 38.7% year-on-year, cementing our position as the world's fourth largest smartphone supplier. Supporting Lenovo's long term goal to lead the PC+ era, the growing popularity of our smartphones worldwide speaks volume of our product innovation and commitment to meet the changing market requirements and consumer needs."

The VIBE X2 is described as the world's first layered smartphone, featuring a gradient three layer design and is available in three colours, white, red and gold.

The 5 inch handset is equipped with the new MediaTEK MT6595 4G LTE True8Core processor and power-saving features that help boost battery life. It also boasts two cameras, the 5MP wide-angle front camera, featuring auto-shutter gesture controls which allow users to capture selfies by blinking their eyes or waving their hands and the 13MP auto-focus, rear-facing camera with a back-illuminated sensor and LED flash.
