Mobile devices and consumer electronics maker Prestigio has signed a distribution alliance with MG-Group for Oman, a move the company said will see its products sold in the retail and traditional channel.

The alliance, which was announced at a special channel event, saw the vendor launch new products for consumers and public sector in Oman with more than 100 delegates from retail, traditional dealer channel, education and public sector grace the event.

According to Prestigio, the partnership with MG-Group is part of the company's broader strategy to develop its channel business in Oman and the wider Gulf market.

"We are really proud to participate in an exclusive partnership with MG-Group, a reputed distributor for consumer electronics in Oman. Prestigio has a wide range of products and we are truly eager to pass these to our customers in Oman." said Hesham Tantawi, VP Prestigio MEA.

Tantawi unveiled a complete range of the company's tablets, smartphones, Multiboard, Prestigio Multipad and accessories.

Mohamed Yassin, CEO of MG-Group said: "MG Group is one of Oman's first national IT distributor in the country with extensive market expertise in providing a comprehensive product line from a single source. The company's immense credibility, reach and understanding of the local consumer sector will prove invaluable as Prestigio continues to launch more innovative products while consolidating its presence within Oman."

Yassin added that the tablets, smartphones and interactive multi board technologies in Oman are showing strong upward momentum driven by the consumerisation of IT and the onset of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend. "Along with the shift in demand in the consumer domain, more organisations are now adopting new technology policies in the workplace and allowing employees to use updated devices for work purposes, empowering them to access corporate information anytime and from anywhere," he said.
