Oman-based Nasmatel has continued to expand its business and vertical focus. Last year, the company diversified its offerings and successfully launched its Nasma Learning Centre (NLC) and Subsurface Computing portfolio. With the SI eyeing the education and oil & gas sector, it will be interesting to see what figure it will post come next year.

What were the company’s milestones in 2013?
We continued to diversify our offerings and successfully unveiled the Nasma Learning Centre (NLC) and Subsurface Computing portfolio. The NLC’s prime objective is to bring quality branded technical and soft skills training to Oman.

What are your strategic plans for the rest of 2014?
Nasma’s strategy for the year is two-fold: continue with the penetration into Oman’s vertical markets particularly government sector and expansion to other geographies outside of Oman. Nasma has set up offices in Salalah to support its IT, network and telecoms solution offerings in the market.

What were the main drivers for your revenue growth in 2013?
A lot of enterprises have either rolled out data centre projects or have plans of upgrading existing ones. Most of our growth came from here.

Has the SI sector recovered from the market instability?
The region is still witnessing political instability and this is affecting businesses. However, corporations appear to be very optimistic and are still well poised to capitalise on markets however risky they may be.

Where will most of your business growth come from in 2014?
Government and oil & gas continue to be very productive sectors and this is where most of our opportunities is going to come from this year.
