ESET brings 2FA to Cyberoam appliances Pradeesh: There is great need for a smart solution to the password problem

ESET has signed an agreement with Cyberoam that will see ESET's Secure Authentication solution integrate into Cyberoam's unified threat management (UTM) and next-generation firewall (NGF) appliances.

Secure Authentication is a mobile solution relying on two-factor, one-time password (2FA OTP) technology for remote access to infrastructures. The two companies said the integration of the solutions would help to protect businesses against data breaches, which, they claimed, are most often caused by poorly implemented password management policies.

In a statement, the two vendors cited Verizon's 2013 data breach report, which said that 90% of US-based companies suffered a hacking or data breach in 2013. Of these, 76% took advantage of weak intrusions.

"Clearly, while the benefits of remote working are evident, there is great need for a smart solution to the password problem," said Pradeesh V.S., general manager at ESET Middle East.

"ESET's two-factor, one-time passwords are a great way for organisations of all sizes to harden their security posture by providing a secure connection to their sensitive data and networks."

ESET's mobile-based Secure Authentication is designed for users accessing a company's VPN and Outlook Web App, as well as other Microsoft systems such as Dynamics and SharePoint. The vendor said that users can implement the solution to RADIUS-based services or use the API to integrate it with an existing authentication system based on Active Directory.

"ESET's Secure Authentication application not only provides an extra layer of security to our customers as they access their company networks remotely, it's also really easy to install and use," said Ajay Nawani, global head of presales at Cyberoam.

"The other great benefit is that it will be provided to VPN users via a pre-installed mobile application or via SMS, designed for users with mobile phones that cannot support apps."
