Final deadline for SIM registration today So far there have been no reports of anyone being cut off for not registering.

The final deadline for registering du and Etisalat SIM cards is today but so far there have been no reports of anyone being cut off for not registering.

The Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA)'s My Number, My Identity campaign, which was launched in 2012 as a means to prevent fraudulent use of mobile phones was reported to end today (16th July) and if phone owners didn't meet this deadline they would have their phone numbers deactivated.

Last week Etisalat claimed it had completed registrations for 95% of its mobile subscriber base.

The TRA and du have not responded to the request for comment from ITP.net. so it is still unclear whether phone numbers will be deactivated and if or how people can reinstate them should this happen.

Are you not supposed to receive a text for this? There should be adverts on buses and in malls for something this important.

Well my 15-years old Etisalat post paid account has never been registered, and it's still connected today
