Avaya Inc has announced fresh models and enhanced functionality for its Collaboration Pods, a portfolio of communications and collaboration solutions aimed at enterprises and cloud service providers.

The two latest Collaboration Pod models are specifically for cloud providers, and are designed to deliver unified communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) and contact centre-as-a-service (CCaaS) to end customers.

According to Avaya, cloud service providers Connex and ROI Networks will be powering their new UCaaS offers for their customers using the Collaboration Pods.

For enterprises, advanced customer-experience-management functionality has been added to the existing Collaboration Pod model, which can now support multichannel interactions through Avaya Elite Multichannel, self-service via the Avaya Experience Portal and management through the Avaya Call Management System, in addition to its full Unified Communications capabilities.

All Collaboration Pod models have also been enhanced with Avaya Fabric Connect networking. Fabric Connect, a network virtualisation technology, is designed to enhance the network performance of real-time applications and provide "simplified virtual machine mobility, greater agility and faster time to service via end-point provisioning".

Based on solutions from Avaya, EMC and VMware, the Avaya Collaboration Pods deliver virtualised applications, computing, storage, and networking with all administrative and provisioning functions consolidated in a single orchestration system. Avaya provides integrated support for all Collaboration Pod components.

"Software- and hardware-as-a-service is a key and growing aspect of our market, and it is an area in which Avaya's advanced communication tools are beginning to lead the industry in terms of opportunity and innovation," said Mohammed Areff, managing director, Gulf region, Avaya.

"Our customers value the many obvious benefits of powerful turnkey solutions, and the Collaboration Pods are a great example. We are putting them forward to Middle East businesses as a new way of helping to provide new technologies while limiting their impact on customer resources."

The new Avaya Collaboration Pods will be available in the third calendar quarter.
