Quantum embarks on partner recruitment drive Ismail says Quantum has received a lot of enquiries regarding distribution and reselling rights in MEA region.

Dubai-based tablets and smartphone maker Quantum has announced that it has embarked on a partner recruitment drive, as part of the company's wider plan to extend its geographical and business reach in the Middle East, Africa (MEA) and India region.

The company said it is impressed with the impact its products have had at this year's DISTREE Middle East event and has been inundated with inquiries about distributing the Quantum range of products in the region.

Tamer Ismail, CEO, BDL Group, said the company has received a lot of inquiries regarding distribution and reselling rights from various partners in the GCC, Levant, North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa and India. "We are evaluating a suitable distributor for each region as we would like to have only one exclusive distribution partner with extensive partner reach, impeccable track record and strong expertise in providing services and after-sales support in each region," he said.

Ismail said Quantum is looking at appointing distributors that meet three prerequisites namely market breadth, footprint on the ground and regional reach, and have service centres to handle post-sales support. "We are soon launching a customer care call centre that will handle all after-sales support for channel partners and end-user clients," he said.

He explained that the company is targeting to sell 1.5m units of tablets per year and 1% market share for smartphones in the MEA region in the first year of launching the phone portfolio.

For the Quantum notebook business, Ismail said the aim of the company is to have a 5% share in the MEA geography in the first year. "We believe we have the right products that are backed by a solid after-sales support to achieve these targets. Africa is our growth engine and we believe that the Quantum range of smartphones will ‘cannibalise' the installed feature phone base on the continent," he said.

Ismail said participating at DISTREE Middle East, where the company also unveiled the ‘Blue Ocean Strategy' during the Live@DISTREE session has given Quantum a springboard to take the brand global. "I know it is early days, but we have plans to take the Quantum range of products across the globe," he said.
