DISTREE Middle East kicks off today with the organisers of premier retail show promising that this year's event will not only celebrate the 10th anniversary of running the consumer electronics retail event but feature new programmes dedicated to new products and technology.

The event which will be held from today until 22nd May, will see more than 70 retail brands participate this year, showcasing their latest products and holding pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with leading consumer electronics retailers across the Middle East region.

According to DISTREE Events, the Abu Dhabi show will introduction ‘Fresh: A First Look at New Technology', and follows the success the initiative  received when it was first unveiled at the Monte Carlo event earlier this year. DISTREE said Fresh is aimed at showcasing the latest technology, products and consumer electronics devices from around the Middle East region and globe.

In addition, the company said the event will also include two other separate product showcase sessions dubbed: ‘Wearables Live' and ‘60 Seconds to Convince'.

Farouk Hemraj, CEO, DISTREE Events, said in an earlier interview with Channel Middle East, that this year's event is special as it also marks the tenth anniversary of running this dedicated premier consumer electronics retail expo in the Middle East region.

Hemraj said to celebrate this milestone, DISTREE Events will be introducing new sessions and topics mirroring the main event in Monte Carlo, held at the start of the year for all EMEA-based vendors, distributors, retailers and e-tailers of consumer electronics. "The feedback from the region's retail players has been positive. We will be introducing new topics this year and one of them will focus on the increasing role the retail sector is playing in catering to SMBs and SMEs in the region," he said.
