What is your current role in the ICT industry in the Middle East and what are your responsibilities?

I am the general manager of InfoBlox Middle East and amongst my key responsibilities is to set up a solid presence for InfoBlox in the region, grow the business, and educating key customers on how to leverage our solutions to address the operational and security challenges they face in running their businesses.

What is your favourite thing about your job?

Perhaps one of the most exciting aspects of my job is building the business from scratch. Whether it is hiring new people, signing up channel partners or winning the trust of key customers, every day I return home feeling very pleased and truly excited to start the next day.

How innovative do you think the network industry in the Middle East is and how can it improve?

I believe the Middle East is as innovative as the most advanced parts of the world. In fact, I believe the Middle East has a chance to leap-frog many other areas when it comes to technology and IT as it is unencumbered with as many legacy technologies and lobbyists pushing for specific agendas. One key area of improvement would be to focus less on acquiring based on price and more on architectures. Another area is to give IT strategic planning more importance and acknowledge IT as a business driver rather than a cost centre.

What are the upcoming trends or products in your sector?

Powerful trends such as consolidation, virtualisation, and cloud computing are shaping the way we roll out innovations to help customers. IPv6 and DNS security are perhaps additional hot trends that we have started to see our industry grapple with.

Does your company utilise virtualisation or cloud computing?

To begin with, our solutions are available in physical and virtual appliances and provide customers with the ability to manage and control their virtual machines very much like they do physical computing assets. Our platforms are designed also to be delivered as a cloud-based service and we have many service providers that leverage our solutions to do just that.

What are your out-of-office hobbies?

I am an outdoors person. I love spending time on the beach, playing basketball and tennis, and I love watching movies.

Casablanca and Serendipity.

Portable mobile power charger
