Carrier-neutral data centre, datamena has announced that Bahrain telecom operator VIVA will be the newest entrant into its ecosystem.

The announcement follows a partnership agreement that was signed at International Telecoms Week (ITW) in Chicago earlier this week, which will mean VIVA Bahrain will extend its presence into datamena in Dubai, opening up interconnectivity benefits with the global and regional carriers that datamena hosts.

Mahesh Jaishankar, vice president, datamena, said: "We welcome VIVA Bahrain into the datamena ecosystem. Our customers will benefit from VIVA Bahrain's presence, which will open up and enhance the connectivity with Bahrain and the region, bringing even more benefits into the rich environment that datamena offers."

Enterprises and carriers currently within the datamena ecosystem are said to benefit from enhanced and amplified connectivity with Bahrain and the region through VIVA's backbone network. VIVA Bahrain plans to peer on the UAE exchange, benefiting from low latency peering with global and regional content.

Saad Odeh, chief of wholesale and enterprise officer, VIVA Bahrain, said: "Partnering with datamena is an important part of our strategy positioning VIVA Bahrain as a leading regional carrier and ICT player. Placing the new node in Dubai will further expand our footprint and allow us to enhance our international services portfolio to better serve our local and international customers."
