Handset vendor HTC today unveiled its One mini 2 compact smartphone, successor to the One mini, which was the first compact model released under the company's flagship One series.

The mini 2, based on the design of the next-generation HTC One (M8), comes with a 4.5-inch HD display, which is a little bigger than its 4.3-inch predecessor. Also included is the now-familiar HTC Sense 6 with HTC BlinkFeed.

While HTC stressed the 5MP front-facing camera, which follows the trend of selfie-friendly sensor setups, the main camera also packs a medium-sized 13MP punch.

"The latest member of the award-winning HTC One family distills the advanced features that have earned it global acclaim, into an elegant, compact handset", said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation.

"Its size and tapered edges fit perfectly in a hand, pocket or purse, making it look great and feel even better to use. It's the perfect choice for those who love the iconic design of the HTC One (M8) yet want something more compact."
