Channel Middle East finds out from a market personality about their role, their routine and what inspires them to come into work each day.

Name: Bhargav Pandya
Company: Aptec Saudi Arabia
Job title: Pre-Sales Consultant
Years in the role: 1 year nine months
Years at the company: 9 months
Previous companies: Arabia Info-Tech and Tech Mahindra

How would you summarise your role?

My role requires me to liaise continuously with channel partners in all segments of the Saudi Arabia market. I also train and transfer knowledge to partners on the latest trends in the security industry, assist them with proof of concepts (PoCs) for their end-users and delivering technical presentations or any security related consultations.

What’s the first thing you do when you get in the office each day?

I organise and prioritise my schedule for the day, starting with connecting with my valued customers. I also regularly attend meetings with partners across various segments of the channel.

What does a typical day entail for you in the role you currently hold?

Each day has its agenda and challenges. One day I might be spending time working on a customer’s data centre and assisting the technical teams with issues that might arise within the security aspect of the test phase. On other occasions, my regular day at work mainly focuses on interacting with channel partners.

What skills or qualities do you need to do your job?

To execute duties in this role, one needs to be at par with the latest trends in the IT security industry. This is a must in the channel. Technical background with a detailed understanding of product and hands-on experience certainly gives one the competitive edge.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

The favorite part of my job is that I get to interact with a lot of people on a daily basis and I represent one of the world’s largest dedicated security companies in McAfee.

What’s the hardest part of your job?

Finding something to do on quiet days can be hard. Receiving three phone calls or less than five emails in a day makes it a tough day for me.

What criteria do you measure your performance on?

I work closely on key performance indicators (KPIs) set for the team and apart from that, I plan my own KPIs as that helps me to keep track of my achievements and also gives me ample room to improve in areas am behind.

What’s been your most memorable moment in your current role?

My most memorable moment was when one of our partners visited our office to meet our product manager and appreciated my work. The moment is most memorable because this happened within the first quarter of my joining Aptec Saudi Arabia.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I am a technology geek, so I see myself in this industry with a lot more exposure on the way technology is evolving in the regional IT market and channel.

How much time do you spend out of the office each week?

I spent about 50% of my time interacting with channel partners and visiting customers together with the reseller partners in the KSA channel.

What do you get up to during your lunch hour?

I try my best to spend time with friends and colleagues during my lunch hour.
