Just foolin’: Jado Pado announces free giveaway Clicking on free product links took users to this 'Gotcha' message.

UAE-based e-retailer JadoPado.com got into the 1 April spirit today with a gag campaign offering its entire inventory for free.

Through its regular email bulletin, “Newsletter of Awesomeness” and on its homepage, the online shopping service posted a press release headlined “JadoPado announces free e-commerce revolution”.

Declaring that JadoPado had “finally solved the massive challenges facing e-commerce in the Middle East”, the release included an interview with company’s founder, Omar Kassim, who was quoted as saying: “Imagine never having to wait for payment when trying to make a delivery. It’s magical…We turn up, we deliver and just walk away.”

Kassim’s statement continued: “Our competitors won’t know what hit them. Deal of the day doesn’t quite cut it when you have to compete with free.”

The release also mentioned that Kassim was “reading from a set of prepared remarks from his phone made from leaked iPhone 6 parts”.

User’s that clicked on links on the homepage were taken to product lists that all listed the selling price as “FREE”, but clicking on these product links navigated to a page where the e-tailer had posted a “Gotcha” message.

However, all was not lost for duped shoppers. After wishing the downcast bargain hunters “Happy April Fools’ Day” the site offered a AED100 voucher as discount off any purchase higher than AED1,500 until 11:59pm UAE time.
