UAE-based PC tablets and smartphone manufacturer Touchmate, has appointed Axiom Telecom as it retailer for in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

Axiom Telecom will supply Touchmate's 3G tablets and the soon to be launched smartphone array to consumers. In addition, Axiom has also been granted rights to supply independent retailers and the traditional dealer channel in the Kingdom with Touchmate tablet range. Touchmate also said the tablets will be offered with data plans from Zain and STC.

The company, said it has decided to partner with Axiom in KSA because of it strong credentials in mobile devices supply and solid after-sales support.

Kamal Kumar, general manager, Touchmate Middle East FZCO, said the company has decided to team up with Axiom Telecoms because of its solid mobile devices retailing and entensive presence in the telecoms space. "We are happy to have signed Axiom an established retailer of smartphones and tablets in the region. Being a UAE-based company, we felt that Axiom and Touchmate share common identity," Kumar said. "We believe that the two companies will find this alliance to be mutually beneficial."

He added that Axiom has been granted rights to the entire range of Touchmate tablets and in the second quarter, the company will also add Touchmate's smartphone range in KSA.

Kumar pointed out that having started in the tablets space a bit early, Touchmate now offers more than 35 different tablet models in the Middle East. "This year, the company is focusing on bring to market 3G and 4G devices. We believe that we have the right mix of devices from entry, mid range and top tier," he said.

He pointed out that most of the new tablets offering will be built using Intel's mobile processor platform.
