Microsoft's next generation console, the Xbox One, will be officially released in the UAE and Saudi Arabia in September this year.

The console, which was launched in Europe, North America and Australia and New Zealand in November last year, will now be heading to 26 additional markets worldwide, including the GCC.

The Xbox One, which includes Microsoft's Kinect motion sensor technology, has been positioned by Microsoft as an integrated entertainment device that would be suited for playing games and multimedia entertainment, that would replace other media players. The console makes extensive use of voice and motion controls, and has support for ‘second screen' integration with other devices.

While the console has not been officially available in the region, many e-commerce sites have been offering grey market imports, with prices around AED 2,500 ($680), compared to $499 official launch price in the US. Pricing details for the UAE and Saudi Arabia launch were not available at time of going to press.
