It's difficult to believe that, until very recently, Nokia has been unable to ship Lumia devices with Full HD displays. However, a Windows Phone firmware update last year brought Full HD to the Lumia platform, and Nokia responded by launching the enormous, 6-inch Lumia 1520 - a statement designed to show that Nokia can play the stunning display game as well as anyone else.

The Lumia 1520's display, then, comes in Full HD, and offers a pixel density of around 367 pixels per inch (ppi). That's slightly less than the 5.7-inch Samsung Galaxy Note 3's pixel density of 386, and considerably less than the 5.5-inch Lenovo Vibe Z's 401 ppi. But then again, the Lumia 1520's display is noticeably larger. The Lenovo's display might be one of the crispest in the business, but certainly the Lumia can hold its own against any of its large-screen rivals. Colours are bright and edges are sharp, and the sheer size of the display makes its overall quality that much more impressive.

Nokia has also loaded the Lumia 1520 with top-of-the-range performance features. The processor is a quad-core, 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 - a speed demon that's already seen service in a number of other range-topping smart devices. Meanwhile, the 2 GB of RAM puts the Lumia 1520 on a level pegging with the most powerful devices on the market today. And, as it usually does, Nokia far outshines the competition in this segment with a 20-megapixel Carl Zeiss optics rear camera. If this were a game of Top Trumps, the 1520 wouldn't be a bad card to hold.
