An anonymous Twitter account has leaked pictures of what it claims are the iPhone 6.

The space-grey shell carries the Apple brand and the images appear to show what many industry analysts have been urging from Apple: a bigger screen.

The leaked images appear to show a device that resembles the iPod Touch, incorporating a thin bezel, but reports vary as to what exact screen sizes will be available in Apple's next smartphones. The range of sizes reported is between 4.5 inches and above 5 inches, but if Cupertino launches two phones at the same time, as it did last year, the models may be differentiated by screen size as well as chassis material (metal or plastic).

The phablet (a handset with a screen size of 5 inches or more) is the fastest growing sub-category in smartphones and Apple has been struggling to differentiate its handsets throughout its past two product cycles. Keeping up with Samsung Electronics, which has regularly brought phablets to market, may be no longer be optional.

The images also show the TouchID button that made its debut on the iPhone 5S.
