Sony this week announced the launch of its new VAIO Fit PC, featuring a multi-flip hinge that transforms the PC to tablet or viewer modes while offering the functionality of a traditional clamshell laptop.

Now available at select electronics stores in the UAE, the new series is available in 15-inch, 14-inch and 13-inch screen sizes.

The VAIO Fit's laptop mode is said to "deliver the same performance as conventional notebook PCs". In tablet mode, it is designed to be used for browsing the Web, taking pictures, and writing with the digitiser stylus, which is included with the VAIO Fit 13A and is an optional purchase for the 15A and 14A. The viewer mode allows the user to share the experience of watching a video or movie with another viewer.

"[The different modes make] the VAIO Fit ideal for professionals, students, designers or entrepreneurs," Sony said.

The PC's thin chassis is constructed with an aluminium hairline finish. The notebook comes with a full-pitch keyboard, touch pad and palm rest and a backlit keyboard allows users to work in low-light conditions.

The VAIO Inspiration Suite aims to replace the necessity of pen and paper with a collection of core apps that allow users to capture, edit and organise content on their VAIO notebooks.
