How did the company start and what is its history to date?

Du was launched in 2006, offering integrated communications solutions for voice, data and video. Since then, du has expanded significantly as the fastest-growing telecommunications company in the region, with more than 6.6 million customers enjoying customised, innovative services designed specifically to meet previously underserved niche needs. Some of du’s first-of-their-kind products include; the Emirati and Absher Plans for UAE nationals; the Executive Plan, which offers unmatched benefits for businessmen; the One World Plan, and Pay by the Second billing, to mention just a few.

In 2011, du became the first telecom in the region to launch a Sustainability Report; the company was also ranked first in the S&P/Hawkamah Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance Index 2011. Its shop in Fujairah City Centre was the UAE’s first to be LEED Platinum certified.

What does the company do in the UAE?

Du offers mobile and fixed telephony, broadband connectivity and IPTV services to individuals, homes and businesses, as well as providing carrier services for businesses and satellite up/downlink services for TV broadcasters. As a rapidly-growing enterprise, du has a team of experts working to enhance and expand its bouquet of service offerings to its customers.

For business customers, du supports a broad spectrum of verticals and segments from SOHO, SME, mid-market to large enterprises that have varying needs. Du currently has an end to end portfolio of cloud services covering IaaS, ITaaS, PaaS and SaaS augmented by cloud security offerings to support our customers business needs when it comes to cloud enabled IT products, application and services. Du offers products broadly categorised into managed connectivity, managed computing, managed security, managed communication and collaboration, managed mobility and m2m and managed applications. Furthermore these offerings are hosted locally at du data centres with certifications such as ISO, Business Continuity Institute and SAS backed by industry leading SLA’s.

What is your presence in the Middle East region?

Du is solely focused on the UAE, and is based in Dubai.

Regional successes

In April 2012 du launched the Customer Service Index report, a first of its kind report for both the region and the industry. The report demonstrates improvements and transparency in Customer Service Channels from 2010  In May 2012 du signed the Middle East’s first naming rights partnership and Yas Arena and FLASH Forum were renamed to du Arena and du Forum.In October 2012 du launched ‘The Entrepreneur’, the region’s first entrepreneur-focused TV reality show. Also in October 2012, du launched Datamena, a carrier-neutral transit and content hub that provides an interconnection platform for international carriers, content and service providers in the Middle East. In July 2013 du and Apple launched region’s first Apple carrier shop-in-shop concept.
