Vodafone appoints new CEO for MEA and Asia-Pacific

New chief replaces Nick Read, who has been appointed group CFO

Vodafone has appointed Serpil Timuray as the new chief executive of its Africa, Middle East and Asia-Pacific operations, replacing Nick Read, who has been appointed group CFO of Vodafone. Timuray and Read will start their new roles on 1 January, 2014.

Timuray was previously CEO of Vodafone Turkey, a position she held since 2009. She was appointed as a director on the board of Vodacom Group in South Africa in September 2012.

Before joining Vodafone, Timuray was general manager at Danone Turkey.

Gokhan Ogut, who is currently Vodafone Turkey's chief commercial and operations officer, will take on the role of CEO of Vodafone Turkey.
