Digital security solutions provider Gemalto has returned to GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK aiming to highlight an array of innovative solutions and services designed to enable banks, mobile operators and governments in the region, to offer trusted and convenient digital services to their clients.

The company is hosting live demonstrations highlighting four main innovation areas, namely mobile NFC payment, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) applications, Mobile ID and the latest banking technologies, which are set to shape the regional digital market.

Hisham Surakhi, General Manager, Gemalto Middle East, says as the ICT market is growing fast, the trend is moving towards dematerialisation and digitalisation of documents to improve efficiency in all sectors and reduce cost. “We are more than ever entering the digital era and the need to protect data, secure digital access, online banking, mobile transactions and be able to digitally sign online documents in a secure way are more than ever a priority to embrace the digital revolution,” he says.

Surakhi says there is strong demand for data protection coming from enterprises in the region, with mobile operators looking at offering new value-added services. He says governments’ initiatives in the Gulf are following a clear digital vision which aims at using the latest technology to build state-of-the-art, robust, future proof infrastructure to offer the most convenient and enhanced public services to citizens.

Surakhi adds that GITEX is a flag ship event for Gemalto in the region as it’s a platform for attracting partners and their clients from Middle East. “The show not only allows us to meet with existing and potential customers, but also helps us to increase the general public awareness on what we do,” he says.

Surakhi explains that as the company provides billions of secure devices worldwide ranging from banking smart cards, solutions and services to SIM cards and embedded mobile applications and solutions, people use at least one Gemalto solution without even knowing it.
