Microsoft Gulf will showcase its latest devices and services at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2013.

The company will be introducing the latest upgrade to Windows 8: version 8.1. Windows 8.1 brings improvements in areas like personalisation, Internet Explorer 11, built-in apps, an improved Windows Store experience, and cloud connectivity with SkyDrive. Business customers can begin testing Windows 8.1 for deployment in their environments with the Windows 8.1 Enterprise Preview.

Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 will begin rolling out worldwide as a free update for consumers with Windows 8 or Windows RT devices through the Windows Store. Windows 8.1 will also be available at retail and on new devices starting on October 18.

In addition to this, Microsoft will also be showcasing the latest Enterprise Social offering, Yammer, updates to Office 365, Azure, Windows Intune, local apps developed specifically for the UAE and Gulf region, and new devices including tablets and convertible laptops.

“GITEX has always been an important platform for the IT community as it is an opportunity to experience tomorrow’s technology today,” says Samer Abu Ltaif, Regional General Manager at Microsoft Gulf. “I am looking forward to this year’s GITEX as we have an impressive line-up of new additions that address the four global mega trends predicted to impact the technology industry: Mobility, Social, Cloud and Big Data. The UAE and the region’s technology sector has evolved rapidly over recent years, and continue to drive forward with immense momentum and creativity.”

Microsoft’s stand at Gitex will also include solution partners that will demonstrate solutions built on Microsoft technology.
