Global solutions vendor Cisco is set to delve into its Intelligent Network portfolio at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2013.

The solutions range encompasses core routing, switching, mobility and services; unified data centre, virtualisation and cloud; video; network architectures; and financing solutions.

The company's stand will be partitioned into demonstration zones, which will illustrate the Internet of Everything, collaborative solutions, enterprise networking, data centre, software defined networking and network security. There will also be a designated area for Cisco's strategic partners.

"Cisco aims to help our customers drive sustainable growth [by improving] productivity and user experience [and] reducing costs," says Rabih Dabboussi, managing director, Cisco UAE.

"We provide network-based technologies that help organisations innovate, drive new business models, increase productivity and create new jobs."

Cisco believes that networks are at the heart of recent technology investments in the Middle East, specifically in the public sector.

"To this day the network is still the vital platform for creating intelligent, sustainable solutions across the board from public safety and security, transportation, buildings, utilities, healthcare, finance and banking, retail and education," Dabboussi explains.

Cisco has recently launched a number of regional programmes to nurture talent and encourage entrepreneurship. These initiatives include the Cisco Networking Academy programme and Cisco Entrepreneur Institutes.

Cisco Networking Academies are geared towards preparing students for entry-level ICT jobs, and providing additional training or education, with the end goal of earning globally recognised certification.

Likewise, Cisco Entrepreneur Institutes throughout the Middle East offer coaching and training to entrepreneurs on how to start and grow a business, and use IT to enable it.

"Our commitment to the Middle East is underlined by our continued focus on innovating and bringing the best-in-class solutions that will deliver the transformation and the results that businesses across the region seek," says Dabboussi.

"Cisco aims to leverage GITEX to connect with key decision makers and help to build relationships with a Pan-Middle East audience."
