Following yesterday’s Apple iPhone 5S and 5C launch, SAP AG today announced that its suite of mobile solutions will support key iOS 7 features.

The company has committed itself to “rapidly supporting customers running the latest mobile operating system from Apple with SAP Mobile Secure solutions, SAP Mobile Platform and mobile apps from SAP”.

Many of the new enterprise features within iOS 7 are viewed by SAP as benefitting customers eager to adopt corporate security requirements such as single sign-on, per-app VPN and app configuration. SAP has validated iOS 7 for apps running on SAP Mobile Platform both on premise and in the cloud, and pledged to further enhance support with upcoming releases of the software development kit (SDK) for SAP Mobile Platform. There are currently over 60 SAP apps on the iOS platform.

SAP also claims one of the largest enterprise deployments of iOS devices, and has deployed iPhones and iPads across business functions such as sales, marketing, services, development and operations. SAP Global IT supports more than 50,000 iOS devices used by employees worldwide.

“With the recent announcement by H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum that the UAE is moving towards a mobile government, the ability to provide new, highly-connected, scalable and adaptable solutions is more pressing than ever,” said Sam Alkharrat, managing director, SAP MENA.

“Apple has made it easier for the enterprise to adopt its devices with the release of iOS 7, which is considered by many as the biggest upgrade since its debut, and bodes especially well for enterprise developers and IT managers.

“The changes Apple is implementing in iOS 7 directly align with our goal of enhancing, securing and simplifying the end-user experience. This will markedly enhance SAP’s ability to help customers, in both the public and private sector, build beautiful mobile apps and securely use iOS devices in mission-critical business environments.”
