UAE's Etisalat warns of internet disruption
Telco says that customers’ internet could be affected over coming days
Etisalat, the UAE's largest telecommunications provider, warned that its customers could face disruption in their internet connections over the coming days.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the operator said that ongoing maintenance to its infrastructure could affect customers of its eLife internet packages.
"Due to maintenance work being done on our internet links, some of our eLife internet customers might notice some change on their internet. We apologies for the inconvenience, our teams are working around the clock to restore normal traffic," the statement read.
It added that maintenance work was expected to be completed by 29th August.
Internet services in the Gulf state, which is served by a telecoms duopoly, have suffered in the past due to damage to submarine cables.
In March, Etisalat said its services were disrupted after the Egyptian coastguard reported three divers cutting through a fibre optic cable in the Mediterranean sea.
