Gulf Bridge International (GBI), the Middle East's first carrier-neutral submarine cable operator, has a signed a deal to supply capacity to Zajil Telecom, a Kuwaiti ISP and MPLS service provider.

Zajil Telecom operates one of Kuwait's most advanced data centres and provides Internet services including cloud-based services. The deal will provide additional capacity to Zajil and also offer increased redundancy in the event of another international cable system failing.

Khalifa Al-Soulah, managing director and CEO, Zajil Telecom, said: "Be it a business or an individual, staying connected is of the utmost importance and Zajil signing with GBI is another step towards ensuring that our customers always stay connected."

Ahmed Mekky, CEO of GBI, said: "The Kuwaiti market has always been, and will continue to be a strategically important market for us. [This deal] is the fifth partner agreement for us in Kuwait.

"Evidently there is growing demand for the technology we supply and we are thrilled to be working with progressive organisations like Zajil Kuwait who are committed to excellence and share our vision," Mekky added.
