Regional IT distributor Logicom, has signed a distribution agreement with QNAP Systems, a provider of NAS solutions.

Under the accord, Logicom is the authorised distributor of QNAP's NAS solutions including the SoHo, SMB and high SMB, Marvell and Intel series in Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Yemen, Libya, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

According to Logicom, the addition of QNAP to its storage portfolio complements the company's existing partnership with Western Digital,  as QNAP's storage solutions support WD's NAS hard drives.

Tony Chou, QNAP's regional representative, said: "We are pleased to strengthen our distribution network with Logicom and we will be offering QNAP NAS, the new powerful Turbo NAS operating system QTS4.0 to the Middle East market. Logicom is a well-known VAD in the EMEA region and we believe we will be able to offer a wider product range of QNAP NAS to the market. Logicom will also deliver to the home and SMB markets a new experience for data storage, backup and sharing."

Demetris Demetriou, general manager at Logicom Dubai, said: "NAS products are well received both from the home users and SMBs. QNAP is one of the leading brands in this segment and we anticipate that this move will augment our offering to the market with new technologies that can assist in the lifestyle of the high tech individual that can download videos, photographs, files and data."

Demetriou explained that the need for data storage is increasing on a daily basis and QNAP NAS offerings are designed for data storage with great product features. "We see a market requirement for designing complete bundle solutions for data storage in the consumer and SMB market segments," he said.
