Verdict: Mitsumi has made the Power List debut this year with a solid revenue performance. Although the company is headquartered in Dubai, Mitsumi has made its name on the African continent where it has offices in North, East, West and Southern Africa. As a Pan-Africa distributor, Mitsumi wants to replicate the success on the continent in the Middle East.

What are your strategic plans for the rest of 2013?

This year is a pivotal year in our history as we will be augmenting our volume business with a shift into value-add distribution. Our value focus will see us engage major brands in networking, storage, unified communications (UC) and security.

What were the main drivers for your revenue growth in 2012?

From a brand perspective, our Dell, HP and Samsung business pushed our sales to new highs. Our Samsung netbook array and HP’s consumables business contributed immensely to our revenue growth.

Has the distribution sector recovered from the market instability in the region?

Although we are a UAE-headquartered business, majority of our business comes from our Africa operation. The Middle East is slowly returning to growth albeit at a slow pace. We grew our sales by 28% in 2012 and a lot of that can be attributed to the efforts of developing new markets out of the Middle East.

What will drive your business growth in 2013?

Our growth will be two-fold: organic and through acquisitions. The African continent remains the biggest contributor to our bottom line.
